Forget Gehry’s Disney Opera House in L.A., Hamburg’s Elbe Philharmonic creates a strong and beautiful impression by cutting into the skyline. Its projected completion date is 2020 by the Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron. Herzog is the firm behind the Beijing National Stadium, but I have to say that the crystalline ice sculpture on this building will make for a more impressive site on the water of HafenCity.
